The benefits laparoscopy offers to gynaecological health are many. Procedures such as hysterectomies (removal of the uterus) and myomectomies (removal of fibroids) can be successfully performed laparoscopically, with far less pain than open abdominal surgery, which requires larger incisions and longer hospital stays and recovery times. By contrast, recovery from laparoscopic surgery is generally faster, with reduced scarring and a lower risk of infection.
